Doctor Sam Akhavan is an orthopaedic surgeon and Fellowship-Trained Sports Medicine doctor. He is a member of the Orthopaedic Department at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA where he serves as the Director of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine as well as the Director of Orthopaedic Research at Allegheny Heath Network.
He performs complex arthroscopic surgery in the treatment of knee and shoulder injuries. He is also a team physician for several professional sports teams in the Pittsburgh area, as well as a team physician for USA rugby. He is also the head orthopaedic surgeon for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Academically, Dr. Sam Akhavan is an Associate Professor at Drexel University, the Director of the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship as well as the Assistant Program Director for the Orthopaedic Residency at Allegheny Health Network

Dr. Sam Akhavan sees patients at AGH's Robinson, Cranberry, Wexford and Cool Springs satellite offices as well as at the main orthopaedic office in Pittsburgh. He performs his surgery at Allegheny General Hospital and Sewickley Hospital.
